APPLE IPAD PRO 2021 : REVIEW

 

NEW SCREEN, 5G CELLULAR, AND M1 CHIP

OK this is the new iPad pro-2021, but wait what's new?

Ok, when you have the look at it, it looks almost exactly the same (Ipad Pro 2020) when the screen is not ON. the overall look is exactly the same as the iPad pro-2020 but in terms of hardware it is a leap up. This iPad has a new processor and the real upgraded display for the 12.9-inch model only which is I think is a great jump from the previous displays. Plus it has a front-facing camera which is ULTRA Wide this time and that's cool, isn't it? which helps you during the ZOOM meetings (which is now a big source of education and work from home stuff due to COVID-19) and don't forget the 5G in fact the hardware seems just perfect.

M1 AS FAST AS ALL THE M1 MACS

The first thing to do the benchmarks scores. For that, I did that and for no surprise, it was clear that the new M1 iPad pro is dramatically fast. The M1 processor is with 8-core CPU and 8-core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine same as M1 IMAC, MACBOOK AIR. APPLE claims that the CPU is 50% faster than the previous generation and has 40% faster graphics as well. The single-core performance is not that dramatic but in multicores, it keeps ahead of iPad pro-2020.

The new Liquid Retina display

After benchmarks, the next main thing is the Display of Ipad Pro 2012 which is a real upgrade from the Ipad 2020, and as stated before only the 12.9-inch model has the new display which is been called the XDR Liquid Retina Display, the mini LEd based Display. in short all the fancy words mean that it feels like the OLED display much like the Apples' pro iPhones. It delivers colors to life with a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio which is great for viewing movies and TV shows stuff also for editing HDR photos and videos. it also has 1000 nits of full-screen brightness and breathtaking 1600 nits of peak brightness powered by over 10,000 mini LEDs which are 120 times smaller than the previous generation. Truetone for better viewing and ProMotion with 120Hz of adaptive refresh rate.

The 11-inch model is with Liquid Retina Display which also includes ProMotion and Truetone with 600 nits of peak brightness which looks stunning and responsive.

5G and WI-FI

After the transition of 5G in iPhone models, it is now also available in iPad models and now you can stream and download files to internal storage with the blazing-fast wireless network. But most people don't use the cellular model and for that APPLE has the WIFI 6, the fastest wireless connections in their devices that are crucial nowadays.

Camera

Well, the front camera this time has made the iPad a perfect ZOOM computer. An Ultra-Wide camera with a 12MP sensor and a 122-degree field of view makes it perfect for face timing and portrait mode selfies. It is a TrueDepth camera to securely unlock iPad Pro with Face ID.  The all‑new Center Stage uses the Ultra-Wide camera and machine learning to change the way you participate in video calls. As you move around, it automatically pans to keep you centered in the frame. When others join in or leave the call, the view expands or zooms in. Center Stage works with FaceTime and other video conferencing apps for an even more engaging experience.

Back cameras are Wide and Ultra-Wide with LIDAR scanner which are of the same specs as the previous ones but with the change of the M1 chip has become more powerful and now features HDR 3.

Battery and Port

The battery is slightly bigger this time and makes it a little thicker than the previous models but the charging speed is the same. For powerful workflows this time Apple introduced the fastest, the most versatile Thunderbolt port ever which also works with the existing accessories. it can transfer huge files up to 40Gbps and also runs the Pro Display XDR at full 6K resolution.

FINAL VERDICT

As IPad Pro 2021 is the most powerful iPad from APPLE so a question arises that can we use it as a computer? Well, the answer is yes but to some extent. It is not as fast as the iMac and other M1 devices cause it is not the computer it is an iPad for iPad POV it is much faster than any other iPad or tablet out there and you should consider buying.
